How to Download and Install Office 365 for MAC
Use the following link to log into the Office 365 Portal - Office 365 Portal
Click on the "Sign in" button.
This will redirect you to the Microsoft Sign in page.
Enter your AITC email address in the text box provided. The format of the AITC email address is Firstname.Lastname@aitc.qld.edu.au
Click the "Next" button
On the next page, make sure it shows The Industry School Logo and your email address.
Enter your password. The password is the one you normally use for all The Industry School websites i.e Schoology and was originally sent to your personal email address. Click the "Next" button.
Note: If you don't know your password, it can be reset using these instructions - Reset Password
When you click on Next, depending on your location, when you are on our networks i.e. at a School, you will not be asked this question however, if you are connected at home or to your mobile phone, you will have to log in with MFA (Multi Factor Authentication). This is normally the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone. In some cases, you might get a TXT message or you might select a phone call from Microsoft. TXT Messages or phone calls will go to your registered number in Microsoft. If you have not provided us with a number, please contact the IT Helpdesk support@theindustryschool.com.au
Select one of the options if requested and enter the code provided.
Once you have logged into Office 365 you will see the following on the web page.
Click on the option on the right "Install Office" and select "Office 365 apps"
You should see the following message appear. Select "Allow" to start the Office installation download.
Your download of the Office installation should start automatically and you can view the progress of the download.
The progress bar will not show when the download is completed.
Once the download is completed, go to the Mac menu and select Go - Downloads
In downloads, select and open the downloaded Office installation file.
The first windows will be the "Introduction" click "Continue"
Please read the Microsoft License Agreement and then click on "Continue"
You have to Agree with the Microsoft Terms and Conditions to proceed, if you don't, the installation will not continue. Click on "Agree" if you do.
Select "Install for all users of this computer" and click "Continue"
To start the installation, click on "Install"
This will start the installation.
As soon as this step start, you will also see a pop up window asking you to provide credentials for the install to proceed.
Note: The username and password is what you use when you log into your MAC, it's NOT your AITC username and password.
Enter your MAC username and Password and click the "Install Software" button.
The following Microsoft products will be installed on your device.
The package will be validated before the installation starts and you will see progress bar. This bar will move during the different installation phases.
When the installation completes, you should see the following message. Click on "Close"
The following message will appear asking if you would like to delete the downloaded installation package. It is safe to select "Move to Bin". You won't need this unless you have to reinstall Office 365 and it can always be downloaded from the Office 365 website if needed.
Click on "Move to Bin"
The final part of the installation is an update check for Office 365. This will happen automatically so you don't have to do anything. Once the check is done, close the Microsoft AutoUpdate application.
